What is Fidya?
Compensation for non-fasted days
If you are unable to fast for health reasons and this is of a long-term nature, you are exempt from fasting during the month of Ramadan. As compensation, you are required to pay the Fidya, if possible. This is an amount set by the Council of Islamic Theologians in Belgium at 5 euros, with which you can feed a needy person for each day that you have not fasted.
